The limitation of the GU range is its resistance to corrosion due to the carbon steel substrate. This weakness is addressed by GU-B range where carbon steel is replaced by CuSn8 bronze. The construction follows the same steps as GU: Cu skin - electrolyte, sintered bronze and self-lubricating skin on lead-free additivated PTFE.
